As we continue our 360’ feedback series, we’ll be sharing 12 critical leadership behaviors and associated balancing skills from our COMPASS 360 assessment.
Today we’ll explore the first two of twelve: AWARENESS and MAGIC DUST™.
We feel a key piece of effective leadership is having a strong sense of awareness, both of self and of others. It’s also critical to know your strengths and weaknesses, and that over-using a strength may result in a weakness.
When obtaining feedback for AWARENESS, the behaviors that will be evaluated include:
- Is aware of, or open to suggestions about his/her limitations
- Considers points of view other than his or her own
- Understands the role he or she plays on the team and in various situations
The balancing skills for AWARENESS include:
- Demonstrates Humility
- Considers Other Perspectives
- Confirms Own Role
For MAGIC DUST™, the behaviors include:
- Is aware of his or her own unique strengths and uses them to accomplish tasks
- Takes feedback to know when he or she is overusing a strength
- Recognizes and leverages the strengths of others as appropriate
The balancing skills for MAGIC DUST™ include:
- Examines Own Essence
- Receptive to Feedback
- Develops Others
How would you rate yourself when it comes to consistently demonstrating the behaviors and skills for AWARENESS and MAGIC DUST™? How do you think others would rate you?
It’s a great time to find out!
The key to learning is feedback. It is nearly impossible to learn anything without it.
