Would you say it\u2019s occasional or fairly consistent?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The first step in handling stress is to be aware of it.\u00a0 Without awareness, stress is in control of you and not the other way around.<\/p>\n<p>Do a simple assessment of the components below, rating your stress level for each as &#8220;Low&#8221;, &#8220;medium&#8221;, or &#8220;high&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job role\/characteristics<\/strong><br \/>\nToo demanding<br \/>\nNot what I thought it was going to be<br \/>\n<strong>Work Benefits\/compensation<\/strong><br \/>\nDifficult to get a promotion<br \/>\nLow compensation<br \/>\n<strong>Work Schedule<\/strong><br \/>\nNo flexibility<br \/>\nCreates conflict<br \/>\n<strong>Work Relationships<\/strong><br \/>\nNone<br \/>\nConflict ridden<br \/>\n<strong>Boss Relationship<\/strong><br \/>\nNot valued\/skills not utilized<br \/>\nMinimal direction \/ recognition<\/p>\n<p><strong>How many did you rate &#8220;high&#8221;?<\/strong> We suggest addressing those first. Balance is the key to managing stress; consider what you can do differently to lower your stress levels.<\/p>\n<p>Are you trying too hard? We often have a self-imposed need to compete that adds to our stress. We also don\u2019t take time for the <strong>3 R\u2019s:\u00a0 Re-charge, re-energize, and relax! <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Build in time each day for things you enjoy. (Music, exercise, reading, family time). While at work, stand, stretch, take a walk, and don\u2019t procrastinate!
