Examples include missed deliverables, lack of quality, conflict between colleagues, complaints from clients, and the list goes on.<\/span><br \/><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We need to remind ourselves that when these kinds of conversations are delivered with positive intent, they become development opportunities for career growth.<\/span><br \/><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Granted, not everything we share will be well received, and it\u2019s helpful to avoid conducting these kinds of conversations in the midst of emotions and conflict.<\/span><br \/><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Tips include:<\/span><br \/><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Determine your audience:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Is this conversation for just one person or do multiple people need to be involved?<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Stay focused and identify your objective:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What do you want to accomplish as a result of the discussion?<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">How do you want the relationship or situation to proceed?<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What are the next steps? What kind of follow-up is required?<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Describe:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The behavior\/situation and share the known facts<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Use concrete terms and be specific about the issue you\u2019re addressing<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Focus on the specific behavior, NOT the personality of the person(s)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Whenever possible include the specific time(s), place, and frequency of the behavior<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Share:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What was impacted because of this issue?\u00a0\u00a0Ex. Time, money, quality, service, relationships, etc<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Remain\u00a0calm and deliver\u00a0your message in a healthy, respectful manner<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">How can a &#8220;repeat&#8221; of the issue be mitigated?
