Leadership is a gift. It\u2019s given by those who follow. You have to be worthy of it.

Leadership.\u00a0 We all know it\u2019s not easy, but do you consider it a gift?<\/strong> As leaders, we influence others, hopefully in a positive way.\u00a0 When you think back over the leaders you\u2019ve worked for in the past, did any stand out? If yes, why?<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve worked for leaders that were for lack of a better word “memorable”<\/strong> \u2013 some because they inspired and motivated us and others, and then a few because they did exactly the opposite.<\/p>\n

General Welsh felt that a key role of a boss was to lead others to success. \u00a0Here are some tips he shared for successful leadership:<\/p>\n

Be credible.<\/strong>
\nBe authentic. Mean what you say, commit to it, and ensure your behaviors are aligned.<\/p>\n

Pay attention.<\/strong>
\nWhat\u2019s working well and what isn\u2019t? What\u2019s the pulse of your work environment? Does a healthy culture exist?<\/p>\n

Be prepared to make decisions.<\/strong>
\nWe may not have all the answers, but we can ask the right questions and conduct due diligence so we make informed and impactful decisions.<\/p>\n

Know and support your people.<\/strong>
\nWhat\u2019s going on in their life personally, how can you help them grow professionally? Leverage their strengths, learn their aspirations, and provide development opportunities.<\/p>\n

Is your boss a worthy leader?<\/strong> Do you consider yourself to be a worthy leader? Any stories you\u2019d like to share?<\/p>\n
