{"id":755,"date":"2015-12-03T00:00:02","date_gmt":"2015-12-03T00:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev-peopletekcoaching.pantheon.io\/?p=755"},"modified":"2021-10-14T21:38:05","modified_gmt":"2021-10-14T21:38:05","slug":"motivate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peopletekcoaching.com\/staging\/2015\/12\/03\/motivate\/","title":{"rendered":"Motivate!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some say that motivation is only &#8220;self-inflicted,&#8221; but as leaders we can certainly lend assistance to motivate\u00a0others and improve results.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tony Jeary, strategist,\u00a0adviser, and author, provides the following 6 tips:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Invest your time in your team.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Understanding personal goals, values and aspirations will help foster loyal and motivated team members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Communicate\u00a0to others as they wish to be communicated to.\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">We\u2019ve stated before that communicating in a style understood by the recipient is a win-win situation.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Define\u00a0how each person fits within the group.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">Understanding, appreciating, and leveraging individual strengths builds relationships, makes the team stronger, with results more readily attained.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Measure\u00a0progress.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">Make sure your team knows what\u2019s expected of them; reward success, discuss obstacles, and provide regular feedback (minimally monthly).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Teach your people how to win.\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">Align expectations, show that you care about individual developmental needs\/wants, and how achieving goals impacts the team and the person.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do favors in advance.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">This is really about building trust and relationships, and knowing that you can be counted on, and have the ability to count others.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>As a leader, what you do on a daily basis impacts your team?
