It was called &#8220;Lead Yourself.&#8221; This week the quiz topic is &#8220;Lead Others.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Writer\/author John Addison from <em>Success Magazine<\/em> published this quiz which is broken down into 3 parts: Lead Yourself, Lead Others, Lead From The Inside Out.<\/p>\n<h2>First Lead Yourself, Then Lead Others<\/h2>\n<p>This is a topic PeopleTek has been sharing for years, and one of the reasons we found the quiz especially interesting. To be a highly effective leader you must first increase your \u201cself\u201d awareness levels, which positions you to better understand and relate to the styles of others. This brings us to how you Lead Others.<\/p>\n<h3>Quiz \u2013 Part 2\u2013 Lead Others<\/h3>\n<p><strong>How do you shine your light on others?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>I work every job in our company, so I\u2019m sure to understand what people need and want.<\/li>\n<li>I try to let people know I appreciate their hard work, and I hand out yearly awards.<\/li>\n<li>I give people the autonomy and trust they need to do their jobs without micro-managing, which gives them a sense of ownership and pride.<\/li>\n<li>I spend time daily talking with my team one on one, and I give out a lot of praise around the office.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>How do you build new leaders?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>As I work on projects with people, I help develop their unique skills and talents.<\/li>\n<li>I talk to people about their goals regularly and help them make a plan of action.<\/li>\n<li>I entrust people with their own teams, so they can learn leadership skills firsthand.<\/li>\n<li>I point out people\u2019s unique strengths and build their self-confidence by giving them challenges I know they can meet.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>During a difficult time, how do people know they can count on you?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>I don\u2019t go home until everyone goes home.<\/li>\n<li>I ask for help and do the best I can with the resources at hand.<\/li>\n<li>I work on top-level needs and trust that others take care of their responsibilities.<\/li>\n<li>I communicate with everyone regularly, so they know where we stand and how they can help.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong> Mr. Addison explains that there are 4 leadership styles:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The Hands-On Leader<\/li>\n<li>The Developing Leader<\/li>\n<li>The Lone Wolf Leader<\/li>\n<li>The Inspirational Leader<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If your answers were mostly &#8220;1&#8221;, you\u2019re likely a Hands On Leader.<br \/>\nIf your answers were mostly &#8220;2&#8221;, you\u2019re likely a Developing Leader.<br \/>\nIf your answers were mostly &#8220;3&#8221;, you&#8217;re likely a Lone Wolf Leader.<br \/>\nIf your answers were mostly &#8220;4&#8221;, you&#8217;re likely an Inspirational Leader.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s an excerpt of Addison&#8217;s style definitions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>The Hands-On Leader<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0Humble, hard-working, willing to be a member of the team<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Developing Leader<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">Genuinely concerned for others, a willingness to learn<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>The Lone Wolf Leader<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">Great delegator, strategist, visionary; may struggle with people skills<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>The Inspirational Leader<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">A good communicator, makes people feel good, creates a friendly culture<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>*Note: The complete style definitions may be found in\u00a0Success Magazine \u2013 April 2016.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>How did your style compare to last week\u2019s? Are you an A, B, C, or D leader? As\u00a0a reminder, we\u2019re likely to use all styles, but we generally have a preference.
