To be a highly effective leader you need to increase your awareness levels by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fully understanding your styles, preferences, and behaviors<\/li>\n<li>Developing the skills required positioning you to utilize alternative styles that would better fit the situation\/person<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Writer\/author John Addison from <em>Success Magazine<\/em> published a leadership quiz that is broken into 3 parts: Lead Yourself,\u00a0Lead Others,\u00a0Lead From The Inside Out.\u00a0Because of the categories, it obviously caught our eye and we wanted to share it.<\/p>\n<h3>Part 1 &#8211; Lead Yourself<\/h3>\n<p><b>How do your values impact your work?<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>I\u2019m too busy working to sit around thinking about my values<\/li>\n<li>I try to stick to my values but I find myself backing down occasionally to avoid conflict or get ahead professionally<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019m contradicting my values regularly, but I believe the rewards are worth it<\/li>\n<li>I rarely, if ever, do something I feel contradicts my values. I\u2019d rather risk losing my career than be someone I\u2019m not<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>What are some of your main strengths?<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>I\u2019m a team player with a strong work ethic and a willingness to go the extra mile<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019m skilled in my industry, willing to learn and open to new ideas<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019m a driven person with the ability to work alone and solve problems quickly<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019m a friendly person who is creative and compassionate\u00a0\u00a0<b>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>What part of your work motivates you?<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>I get great satisfaction from working shoulder to shoulder with my team and meeting a goal together<\/li>\n<li>My motivation seems to shift depending on what I\u2019m working on and whom I\u2019m working with<\/li>\n<li>I want to fulfill my leadership potential and move up in my field as quickly as possible<\/li>\n<li>I feel it\u2019s my obligation to help others become their best selves and live their best lives<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Mr. Addison explains that there are 4 leadership styles:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The Hands-On Leader<\/li>\n<li>The Developing Leader<\/li>\n<li>The Lone Wolf Leader<\/li>\n<li>The Inspirational Leader<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If your answers are mostly &#8220;1&#8221;, you\u2019re likely a Hands On Leader.<br \/>\nIf your answers are mostly &#8220;2&#8221;, you\u2019re likely a Developing Leader.<br \/>\nIf your answers are mostly &#8220;3&#8221;, you&#8217;re likely a Lone Wolf Leader.<br \/>\nIf your answers are mostly &#8220;4&#8221;, you&#8217;re likely an Inspirational Leader.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s an excerpt of his style definitions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>The Hands-On Leader<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0Humble, hard-working, willing to be a member of the team<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Developing Leader<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0Genuinely concerned for others, a willingness to learn<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Lone Wolf Leader<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0Great delegator, strategist, visionary; may struggle with people skills<\/li>\n<li>The Inspirational Leader &#8211;\u00a0A good communicator, make people feel good, create a friendly culture<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>*Note: The complete style definitions may be found in Success Magazine &#8211; April 2016.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Remember, we\u2019re likely to use all styles, but we generally have a preference.
