(And this was back in 384 B.C. \u2013 322 B.C.!).<\/p>\n<p>Since we all want to excel, we need to be clear about what we feel strongly about, and exhibit the behaviors and actions that support our values. We must be true to ourselves and have the ability to live our values.<\/p>\n<p>Coupled with possessing strong values is the need to be perceived as trustworthy and authentic.\u00a0 To achieve excellence and be successful we need to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be open about our personal beliefs and feelings<\/li>\n<li>Be receptive to the personal beliefs and feelings of others<\/li>\n<li>Be approachable and easy to get to know<\/li>\n<li>Admit mistakes and short-comings<\/li>\n<li>Share, and ask others to share, non-work information to build relationships<\/li>\n<li>Be open to feedback<\/li>\n<li>LISTEN!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We also recommend practicing PeopleTek\u2019s 5 P\u2019s for success: Passion, Persistence, Process (includes Planning), People, and Profit, and we must want to positively influence others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Questions to reflect on:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do our actions support the ability to achieve our goals?<\/li>\n<li>Do we exhibit appropriate behaviors and address those that we view inappropriate?<\/li>\n<li>Are our behaviors consistent?<\/li>\n<li>Do we \u201cpractice what we preach\u201d and \u201cwalk the talk\u201d?<\/li>\n<li>Do we believe in and live the golden rule where we treat others as we want to be treated?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Living our values can take courage.
