{"id":12476,"date":"2021-01-21T20:58:38","date_gmt":"2021-01-22T01:58:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peopletekcoaching.com\/staging\/?p=12476"},"modified":"2021-10-14T21:39:09","modified_gmt":"2021-10-14T21:39:09","slug":"mlk-jr-leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peopletekcoaching.com\/staging\/2021\/01\/21\/mlk-jr-leadership\/","title":{"rendered":"MLK Jr. and Leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>No person has the right to rain on your dreams.<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211;Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>This week we celebrated the life of Martin Luther King, Jr.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. King was a minister, a civil-rights activist, a Nobel Peace Prize winner (1964), a promoter of equality, an inspiration for harmony and growth, and a great leader.<\/strong> He has been quoted hundreds of times, and we wanted to highlight a few:<\/p>\n<p><strong>A genuine leader<\/strong> is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus.<br \/>\nAs leaders it\u2019s up to us to rally team members, ensure shared goals are supported, and to create opportunities for collaboration.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Learn a little about the past, and you may end up with a pretty nice future.<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nAwareness is key! What worked well? What changes could be made to be more effective?<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>If you can\u2019t fly then run, if you can\u2019t run then walk, if you can\u2019t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nNot everything goes as planned, expect and plan for obstacles and be persistent.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope. Courage faces fear and thereby masters it.<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nSuccessful leadership requires courage. Leaders empower themselves and others to go farther than they ever dreamed possible.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>People fail to get along because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don\u2019t know each other; they don\u2019t know each other because they have not communicated with each other.<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nClear and timely communication, inclusion, and building relationships eliminates walls.<\/p>\n<p>And, we\u2019ve shared this before but it\u2019s worth sharing again.
