Miller<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>We have shared that &#8220;Leaders want their organization to LEARN, so it can GROW, Enabling a TRANSFORMATION, Resulting in stronger RESULTS&#8221;.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Having said that, is it limited to &#8220;leaders&#8221; or does it also apply to &#8220;managers&#8221;?\u00a0 It does indeed apply to both!<\/p>\n<p>Our intent was never to diminish the skills and values managers provide; as a result, we wanted to share <strong>John G. Miller\u2019s<\/strong> findings:<\/p>\n<p><strong>When people describe their boss as a &#8220;leader&#8221; and are asked to articulate specifically what that person does to &#8220;lead&#8221;\u2014this is what we hear:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>My boss communicated what I should do<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0She followed up with me consistently.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0When I got it right, he praised me.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0She told me when I was off track.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0He talked to me\u2014and listened.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0I was trained and coached.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0She spent time with me.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> He showed me respect.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Guess what? Every item above is a people management <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 skill. It\u2019s what effective managers do, day in and day out,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 with and for their people.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bottom line, we agree that effective managers ARE leaders!<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Are you a manager of people? Then this is what you and all &#8220;aspiring leaders&#8221; need to know: Effective people management is leadership.<br \/>\n&#8211;John G.
