{"id":10208,"date":"2018-07-26T13:30:45","date_gmt":"2018-07-26T17:30:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peopletekcoaching.com\/staging\/?p=10208"},"modified":"2021-10-14T21:38:43","modified_gmt":"2021-10-14T21:38:43","slug":"savvy-relationship-skills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peopletekcoaching.com\/staging\/2018\/07\/26\/savvy-relationship-skills\/","title":{"rendered":"Savvy Relationship Skills"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>You can&#8217;t talk your way out of a problem you behaved your way into!<br \/>\n\u2014Stephen Covey<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s relatively easy to be savvy with those you have a relationship with, but how do you go about building a meaningful relationship?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>FYI \u2013 For Your Improvement<\/strong>\u00a0 authors, Michael Lombardo &amp;\u00a0 Robert Eichinger, share the following tips:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Look for and appreciate the differences in others and use those differences for everyone\u2019s benefit.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Craft how you approach another person by observing them first.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Work on being open, approachable, and put others at ease by listening and sharing and valuing their opinion.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Ask clarifying questions, restate what they said, and don\u2019t immediately judge an opinion.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Manage your non verbal communication.\u00a0 Make eye contact, stay focused on that person and nod as others speak to stay engaged.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Separate the person from a difficult issue.\u00a0 Ask what is bothersome to that person or ask what they feel you could do or say to help.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A great goal to strive for is that onlookers shouldn\u2019t be able to tell if you\u2019re interacting with a friend, someone you just met, or a person you have an adversarial relationship with.\u00a0\u00a0 That\u2019s not easy but it can be done!<\/p>\n<p>And, when you do experience adversarial relationships, look for common interests and don\u2019t disregard differing thoughts and opinions.
