"Lack of Leadership. IT Leadership requires excellence in three key areas: Technology, Business, and People. If the leadership is missing any of the three components you are doomed." – 10 Reasons for IT Failure, ZDNET

PeopleTek’s Transforming IT Leadership Program
The quote indicates how vital the people component is to the success of a project. Frequently, training is focused on the process and the technology but not on the people. The people component is critical to ensuring buy-in from the user community that contributes to a clear set of requirements that will ultimately be accepted. A core challenge in managing IT projects rises from the difference between working with technology and people. Where the technology is very precise and well defined, interactions with people are subject to interpretation and can lack clarity. As a consequence, it is imperative to know how to communicate and listen well to people who have vastly different communication styles. People need to feel involved from start to finish and need to feel that their opinions are heard.
